Fun of Good Old Japanese - 江戸・明治に学ぶ　楽しむ生き方

Yaizu port has the third largest fish catches in Japan (2021). The museum shows us the locals’ thoughts on building ships, catching and loving fishes. The exhibits about the fishing vessel which was damaged by the US hydrogen bomb test in 1954, move us. We can feel how fruitless a weapon development is. 日本三位の水揚げ量を誇る焼津港がある町 です（ 2021 年）。舟を作る、魚を獲る、魚を愛する気持ちが伝わりました。また、アメリカの水爆実験に巻き込まれた第五福竜丸についても沁みる展示がされていました。武器開発や戦争の害と無意味さを改めて感じます。   The museum is in Yaizu Cultural Center which has a large hall. 大ホールもある焼津市文化センター内に歴史民俗資料館があります。 We can take photos except for the special exhibition “Spaces wherein deities reside and Roads wherein people exchange”. The seamen’s inn was established by Shimizu Jirocho (1820-1893) who every Japanese knows. He was a respected gangster and became the hero of stories, movies and so on. He died at the inn. More than three thousand people came to attend his funeral . The building was rebuilt but the original components are reused. 明治 19 年（ 1886 ）に清水次郎長が開業した船宿の復元施設で、当時の部材を使っています。清水次郎長といえば、街道一の大親分ですが、浪曲で有名になった人。末廣で 1893 年に生涯を閉じました。 葬儀の参列者は三千人を超えた という、人望を集めた侠客です。 The  doll of Jirocho in a travelling outfit  stands in front of the exhibits. The photo on the lower left is an actual Jirocho. 旅姿の次郎長の後ろにゆかりの品々が展示されています。 左下が次郎長本人の写真 です。 He had very strong and reliable followers, so they were called  Jirocho Family . 街道を仕切った次郎長一家の面々。子分は大政小政に森の石松です。 On the second floor, there is a model of an English school. The building which was built in the Meiji period (1868-1912) doesn't look old. 明治期に立てられたせいか新しく感じますね。 The employees lived and worked in the building above which faces to the highway. The owner’s family lived in the behind one. 東海道に面したこの建物は、使用人が使っていて、主は、更に後ろの建物にいたそうです。 The table has a cooking stove and a sake (alcohol) warmer . You put charcoal inside the pot. It is a particular one. Everyone could enjoy a dinner, I think. 炭を入れて 鍋を沸かし、お酒の燗までできる という特別なテーブルです。これは贅沢品です。楽しい夕食になりそうです。 Old buildings along the ex-highway exude the atmosphere in the past. 街道の古い建物がいい雰囲気を出しています。 I drove on the narrow ex-highway and arrived at Satta Pass. “History and folklore Museum” is one of annexes of Mt.Fuji and Princess Kaguya Museum. We can know the livelihood and life of locals very well , although it’s not easy to find their fun things. We can understand how they have earned their living vividly. Mt.Fuji has a legend of Princess Kaguya. The beautiful girl was from the inside of the bamboo tree. She went to the moon at the end of the story. The museum shows us not only the legend but also its folklore, which is the theme of this blog . It is at Hiromi Park in Shizuoka Prefecture. 富士さんにかぐや姫伝説がありました。伝説の紹介かと思いきや、地域の民俗がよく分かりびっくり。本ブログのテーマである 民俗の展示を紹介 します。歴史的建築物を集めた広見公園にあります。 The theme of the exhibition room is “The history of the people living around Mt.Fuji”. The life at the foot of the volcano is explained since the ancient time. The photo in lower right is small cray dolls in the primitive age. 展示室のテーマは、「 富士に生きる 」。富士の麓の町としての歴史が古代から紹介されています。右下は小さな土偶です。 The Yoshiwara-juku (post town) is shown in the section above. It is named “ The highway and the busy post town ”. 「 街道と宿場のにぎわい 」では、吉原宿が紹介されています。 Those are guidebooks in the Edo period (1603 ～ 1868) .
