Acupuncture, moxibustion and massage museum 、鍼灸あん摩博物館 The small museum is in Sugiyama treatment center, which is related to Sugiyama Waichi (1610-1694). He went blind when he was a child. He acquired the acupuncture and moxibustion technique at Enoshima Island in Kanagawa prefecture and became a renowned therapist; even the shogun (ruler) relied on him . Western medicine didn’t spread back then, and an oriental medicine such as an acupuncture was popular. Even in the area where I live, people invited a therapist from Tokyo and got treatment back then (reference: ： Yoshino’sdaily life 33 (Jan. to Feb. in 1855) ). There is Ejima-Sugiyama Shrine beside the treatment center, in which Sugiyama is enshrined. 徳川綱吉の信頼を受けた杉山和一総検校（ 1610-1694 ）ゆかりの杉山鍼按治療所にある小さな博物館 です。杉山和一は幼い頃に失明しましたが、江ノ島弁天で鍼術を授かり、名人として活躍しました。 科学的な西洋医学が普及していない時代、人びとは経験的な鍼灸治療に頼りました。私が読み続けている千葉県流山市の名主の日記にも、江戸から灸治の先生を招いて、近隣の人々ともに治療を受けたという話が出てきます（参考： Yoshino’s daily life 33 (Jan. to Feb. in 1855 、安政 2 年 1 ～ 2 月） ）。博物館の隣には、杉山和一

Tokiwaso was a legendary apartment in Tokyo. Gifted manga artists such as Fujiko.F.Fujio who created “Doraemon” lived together in the early 1950s. The apartment was rebuilt and was opened to the public in 2020 as a museum. We can know their lifestyle, and we can feel their passion in the building and in the town. トキワ荘は、鉄腕アトムの手塚治虫、天才バカボンの赤塚不二夫、ドラえもんの藤子・ F ・不二雄など 、昭和 34 年生まれの私を育ててくれたような 漫画家が同時期に住んだ伝説のアパート でした。 2020 年に、建物だけでなく、その生活までも復元した博物館がオープンしました。 彼らのエネルギーを感じられる博物館、そして街でした。   The sign on the road leads us to the museum. 路上の案内表示がバッチリ。どんな街に住んでいたのか、気分があがります。 Through the alley, there is a street where Tokiwaso is. It's just one station from Ikebukuro which is a popular downtown. 路地を抜けて進むとトキワ荘がある南長崎花咲公園。 The map near the museum shows related places to Tokiwaso. トキワ荘界隈の案内板 Tokiwaso was built in 1952. Tezuka Osamu who was the pioneer of Japanese modern manga (his official site in English: https://tezukaosamu.net/en/ ) moved there in 1953, thereafter manga artists moved there

Sankyo warehouse is in Sakata which is a port city on the Sea of Japan coast. The warehouse was built in 1893 as facility of a rice exchange company, which the former lord (Sakai clan) and wealthy merchants such as Honma established. They lamented the falling of the rice quality at that time. Therefore, they started controlling the rice quality and shipping. The warehouse is used even until now. One of the buildings was renovated to Shounai-rice historical museum; Shounai is a name of the region. It introduces us how people worked there; it was not just toil. 山形県の日本海側、酒田港の近くにある 山居倉庫 は、明治維新後の米の品質低下に対応するため、旧藩主の酒井家が中心となり、本間家など酒田の商人が設立した株式会社「酒田米穀取引所」の付属倉庫です。厳重な品質管理、燻蒸などで高品質な米を出荷してきました。 1893 年に建てられ、 今も米穀保管倉庫として利用されています 。 その一角に、庄内米歴史資料館があり、倉庫で働いていた人たちについても紹介されています 。 Trees are planted behind the warehouse.
