The bath is very famous and popular because the hot spring gushes in a large cave by the ocean . “Boki” means “forgetting to return” and “do” means “cave”; so you forget to go home if you soak in the bath of Boki-do . That’s true! The landscape is good, the hot spring water is good, and the bath tab is good. Photography is prohibited in the bathroom of course, so I’d like to introduce photos displayed at the hotel. 洞窟の中に温泉が湧出していることで有名 な忘帰洞。 帰るのを忘れてしまうほど 、ということで「忘帰洞」ですが正にその通り。景色良し、お湯良し、湯船も良し、でした。風呂場の写真は撮れないので、ホテル内に写真が展示されていたので紹介します。 I went to Hotel Urashima above which has Boki-do by exclusive ferry of the hotel. 忘帰洞があるホテル浦島へは連絡船で向かいました。 The entrance of Boki-do is in the cave . Kumano Nachi Taisha (shrine) is one of three grand shrines of Kumano in Wakayama Prefecture of western Japan. Pepple across Japan have visited Kumano since more than a thousand years ago . Emperors also visited; the 77 th emperor Goshirakawa (1127-1192) visited thirty-four times for example. Old roads to Kumano still remain, which are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Site along with three grand shrines. I visited Matsumoto Pass on the old road (below), then visited Kumano Nachi Taisha. While seeing solemn scenery, I felt the mindset of pilgrims in the old days. 南紀には、熊野三山（熊野本宮大社、熊野那智大社、熊野速玉大社）と呼ばれる神社があります。 熊野信仰で千年以上前から多くの人々が参詣に訪れました 。後白河法皇は 34 度、孫の後鳥羽上皇は 31 度も訪れたのですよ。古い道が各地に残っていて、熊野古道として三山と共に世界遺産になっています。 熊野古道にあった 松本峠 （上の写真）、那智の滝のすぐ近くにある熊野那智大社を訪ねました。旅を楽しんだだけともいえますが、厳かな風景を見ると、何かを求めて参詣に向かう人々の気持ちが分かります。   Matsumoto Pass 、松本峠 There are  Buddhist statues  at the pass (129m above sea level). Shingu in Wakayama prefecture of western Japan was a city built originally in front of a famous shrine , Kumano Hayatama Taisha. It is at the mouth of Kumano River, so it has been a distributing center of woods which are cut in its mountainous area. The museum shows us not only its history but also livening of local people. I took photos under the approval of Shingu City. 熊野速玉大社（新宮）の門前町として栄えてきた のが、和歌山県新宮市です。熊野川の河口にあり、 紀州山中で切り出した木材の集散地 です。資料館では、歴史はもちろん、そこで生きてきた人々の暮らしを知ることができます。 許可を得て撮影しました。 The museum is next to Asuka Shrine. The signboard says,  “ Many  mishotai , images of Kumano deities in the forms of Buddha, dating back to the 12 th  to 15 th  centuries have been discovered ---, and tell us about  religious thought particular to Japan amalgamating Shinto and Buddhism ”. 資料館は、阿須賀神社に隣接しています。その案内板に、御神体である蓬莱山の山麓では、熊野の神々を仏として表現した多くの 御正体 （みしょうたい、 12 ～ 15 世紀）が発見され、「 神道と仏教が融合した日本独特の宗教観 を知ることができる」と書かれています。 Mishotai are exhibited in the room of the 1 st floor . I think the view of Matoya Bay in central Japan is one of most beautiful sceneries in Japan. I show you the view at first, then introduce Shima city history and folklore museum. 三重県の的矢湾は日本屈指の美しい海 の景色を見せてくれると思います。的矢湾の景色に続いて、志摩の資料館を紹介します。   It’s not glittering. Many islands cover the sea surface and weaken the wind and the wave. It’s a very  serene bay . (Evening view from Ikada-sou where I stayed) 多くの島があるのが的矢湾の特徴です。水平線が見えるギラギラした海ではなく、 風や波を和らげてくれるやさしい海 です（宿泊した「いかだ荘」からの夕景） The sea  under the moonlight  is also beautiful. 月に照らされた海 も美しい。 At sunrise , I could see the horizon.
