Nagoya Castle、

The castle was burned by airstrike in 1945; the castle tower was rebuilt in 1959 and the palace was done in 2018 . The color of the interior is whitish not brown because it’s new. I impressively imaged the castles in the internal war time (16 th century) which would also be whitish.  We cannot find any fun things for ordinary people. However, people in the Edo period (1603 ~ 1868) were proud of their castle where their lord was. There were around three hundreds of han (local autonomous government) and many of them had its own castle. Nagoya castle was one of the largest one at that time and I’m sure it met the expectation of the people in the territory. Btw we cannot enter the castle tower because the earthquake-resistance strength isn’t enough. Castle tower (closed) Carriage porch of the palace

It shows  mechanical ( karakuri ) dolls which are set at the top of the floats of Inuyama festival . Each doll performs its own motion, which is the highlight of the festival. Not only dolls but also their materials, mechanism and so on are exhibited. The doll on the right walks on the wooden poles and performs . The puppet operator’s skill is astonishing. The citizens who have house along the street sit on the second floor and look at the festival  like the photo above. I envy them. It’s an interesting display.

Inuyama City is north of Nagoya in central Japan. It has Inuyama Castle which is a national treasure designated by Japanese government. Because only twelve castle towers have remained; Inuyama Castle is the oldest one. The castle was a symbol of han (local  government) in the Edo period (1603 ~ 1868).  Citizens would be proud of it.  Japan was a federation in which each han controlled their territory in the Edo period. People loved their castle town where was not only political center but also economical and cultural center ; a big festival was held there. The video in the museum how people love the city even until now. It is very important to love our city in order to lead a happy life.  Let’s see Inuyama Castle at first!    We can see the  castle tower at the end of the main street . There are many shops along the street including old ones. It’s a nice sightseeing destination. It is rare that the blocks are same as the one in the Edo period.

Juhachiro in Gifu、

The hotel was founded in 1860 beside the scenic Nagara River in central Japan; visitors come to enjoy ukai (cormorant fishing) or playing at the river. Traveling, soaking in a hot spring and eating local cuisine are definitely fun for everyone. The hotel suites the street which was a river port. Behind the entrance hall, the  hotel history is introduced . The hotel was named in 1860, but they started operation sixteen to thirty years before. The photo above is a picture map of pontoon bridge (1874).  Nagara River is rapids, so a pontoon bridge was used  because it was easy to reconstruct. The hotel (Juhachiro) is depicted on the map. The photo  in the early 20 th  century  shows an iron bridge and the wooden hotel which
