Fun of Good Old Japanese - 江戸・明治に学ぶ　楽しむ生き方

  Kawasaki city is between Tokyo and Yokohama with a population of around 1.5 million. The city changed completely compared to the Edo period . This community center introduces the history and culture of Kawasaki-shuku mainly in the Edo period using replicas and videos. You can wear old outfits and take photos. 往時の面影がなくなった川崎宿の歴史や文化を伝えていく、博物館ではなくて交流館である。昔の物が展示されているわけではないが、映像や復元品で昔の様子が分かりやすく展示されている。また、昔の旅装束を借りて写真を撮ることができ、楽しめるようになっている。会議室も充実しており、「地域活動・地域交流の拠点となることをめざして整備された施設」とパンフレットに書かれていた。 人の楽しみとしては、 龍ヶ崎市歴史民俗資料館 の企画展で紹介されていた庄屋が、金策のために三河に向かう途中で立ち寄ったと紹介されていた万年屋、そして名物の奈良茶飯が紹介されていたし、人々が揚々として出かけた旅の様子が、映像や写真で描かれていた。  The photo shows the model of “Mannen-ya (10,000 years shop)” restaurant and inn.   Shinagawa has flourished as a post town on Toukaidou highway which connected Edo (old name of Tokyo) and Kyoto. It was the first post town from Edo and only 8km away from the center of Edo. This museum exhibits Shinagawa post town and a villa of Tokugawa Shougun . This museum was built at the site of an old residence; an old tea-house remains here. I was impressed by the ordinary people who enjoyed sakura cherry blossom viewing on the hill, and by a peddler of Ukiyoe printings. 　品川は東海道の第一番目の宿場として栄えた。江戸からは２里（ 8km ）である。本博物館は、品川宿と徳川家の別荘があった御殿山を中心に紹介している。もともと旧家があった場所であり、茶室や水を流すと琴のような音が鳴る仕掛けを持つ水琴窟もある。人の楽しみを感じたのは、焼失した御殿山で人々が楽しんでいた花見の展示、浮世絵売りの模型も楽しい。 Entrance of the museum The main exhibition room Shinagawa post town 品川宿  The model of Shinagawa post town is exhibited. Reviving old roads, Kaidou   This was a temporary road side exhibition of “ Kaidou ” which is a highway or a walking route constructed in the Edo period . The exhibition was held at an underground street of Nihonbashi area which is a starting point of Five Great Kaidous. Literally, “Kai” is a town and “dou” is a road, so “Kaidou” includes post towns which treat tourists.   73 posters showed present conditions of Kaidous, so this page is a photo collection of Kaidous.
