Nagareyama was flourished as a port town to transport produce and product to Edo or Tokyo. There are some exhibits from Yoshino's, although I'm not sure if it was donated by T.Yoshino's family or not. The museum is on the hill where the prefectural office located. The admission fee is free.
Nagareyama at Meiji period (more than 100
years ago). There were many shops along the main road. One of which is Taruya written
in T.Yoshino's diary. The town was about 4 km away from Yoshino's house.

Letters from a feudal lord to Yoshino in
1564 and 1590, this secured the land for Yoshino. Yoshino had an old ancestry.
Lunch box and kettle box for outdoor use provided by Yoshino. I can say they enjoyed picnic!

The chart below shows private schools in Nagarema. In 1870, there were 7 schools, and there were text books on how to become a good farmer or a good merchant.
This was a major Kou where women chanted a
prayer to Amitabha while passing around a long string of beads. It’s a kind of
parties and might be fun.
This picture below shows horse hunting in a ranch, called Noma-oi. Noma means horses, oi means chasing. People who sat on straw mats looked like enjoying picnic. Just wondering if we could eat lunch when horses were running. Anyway, people went out and saw Noma-oi. I am sure it was a great fun for them; they might have lunch boxes and sake.
In this area, Oshikagari
or deer hunting was hold by Shogun for the
military exercise and vermin extermination in Edo period. Guys were convened for chasing wild animals to the place where Shogun existed. Guys wore like
soldiers and had flags of their villages. People gathered to watch the event
some were from Edo. It was writen in T.Yoshino's diary which was a great entertainment too.

The hanging scroll of Tenjin god might be
used when children stayed all night together; it was a kind of Kou or private group. That might be a pleasure for
children.
This Ema drawing
shows Kou group called Ise Kou; their group went to Ise shrine and performed
Kagura-dance. It is no doubt that it was big fun for them to have a group tour.
