Takatoh, in central Japan (Nagano prefecture), was a castle town (a capital of a feudal domain or han ) in the Edo period (1603 ~ 1868). The castle was abolished after the period, however, the ex- samurai started planting sakura trees at the castle site. Now the town is one of the most famous sakura viewing sites. The folklore museum consists of three facilities . The one on the left is Takatoh natsukashi-kan , which exhibits old utensils and so on. The one on the right was an ex-residence of a court physician . And there is a merchant’s former residence in the other place.
