元禄御畳奉行の日記　尾張藩士の見た浮世（神坂次郎、 1984 ） 人の楽しみの発見度： Good  ★☆☆  This book is about a diary which was written in the peaceful era Genroku in  the Edo period . The writer was a samurai who was a heavy drinker , theatergoer, womanizer and diligent writer, so this was the record of the carefree samurai officer’s life. There are many funny and interesting topics in this best seller book. I found fun of the carefree samurai, however I knew less about fun of the ordinary people, so I marked one star. Anyway this is a funny book worth reading. 人の楽しみの発見度： Very Good ★★☆ （渡辺尚志、 2009 ）   This book depicts the ordinary people in the Edo period , they were farmers. The author is a professor who researches about farmers in the Edo period.  The book might have been a little difficult for foreign readers, who are not familiar with Japan in the Edo period.  So I didn’t cover some items in English article. Contents 1. Family (Ie) and village in the Edo period 2. Life of farmers 3. Farming 4. Bringing-up, education and enjoyment of culture 5.
